About Me — Meet Juju

About Me — Meet Juju
Hi! I’m Julie — but the people who love me call me Juju.
I’m a single 60-year-old Jewish woman with a curious heart, a suitcase that’s always nearby, a growing collection of passport stamps, and a talent for ending up in places that make people say, “Wait… you went WHERE?”
When I started this blog, I thought it would simply be a travel blog. But as I began writing, something interesting happened. The stories started spilling out — not just about the places I’ve been, but about the people, memories, friendships, family history, and unexpected moments that make life meaningful.
So this blog has become something a little bigger than I originally planned.
Yes, you’ll find travel stories here. Over the years I’ve stood among penguins in Antarctica, wandered the colorful medinas of Morocco, watched lions stretch in the early morning sun on safari in Kenya and Tanzania, and floated in turquoise waters off Zanzibar. I’ve explored Cuba, sailed the coast of Croatia on a private yacht (yes — it was as magical as it sounds), and wandered through Spain. Next up: Japan and Alaska.
Many of these adventures happen with a Jewish singles travel group, which means my trips often include laughter, instant community, and someone reminding me to bring snacks.
But along the way, this blog has also become a place to capture other parts of my life — stories about family, lifelong friendships, the things I’ve learned, the memories I’m trying to preserve, and the everyday moments that matter just as much as the big adventures.
It turns out life isn’t just about where we go. It’s about the people we meet, the stories we carry, and the memories we choose to hold onto.
I believe in taking the trip, eating the doughnut, telling people how you feel, and living in a way that lets you say “I can’t believe I did that” instead of “I wish I had.”
So think of this space as part travel journal, part life scrapbook, and part “you won’t believe what happened.”
I write with warmth, honesty, and a little Jewish humor — because adventure doesn’t end at 60. If anything, it may just be getting started.
I hope my stories make you smile, feel connected, and maybe even remind you that life is meant to be lived fully — with curiosity, gratitude, and a sense of adventure.
So whether you’re here for travel stories, reflections on life, Jewish connections, Maizey sightings, Michigan pride, or just to see where I wander next…
Welcome.
