Hurrah for the Yellow and Blue

Win or lose, my support for my Wolverines has never wavered.

Through good times and bad, I proudly support the Maize and Blue.

Two years ago, our basketball team went 8–24…

and I still watched every single game—

although I was changing my lucky sweatshirt a lot more frequently back then, trying to wash off the losses.

And our football team has gone through some rough times too.

But no matter what?

I will always say it loud and proud—

It’s great to be a Michigan Wolverine.

I was talking to my nephew the other day about Michigan basketball, and he told me that in his lifetime… he has never experienced a national championship Michigan Wolverines team.

I was shocked.

But then I thought about it—and it makes sense.

He was born in 2000.

Our last national championship was when his parents were students at the University of Michigan.

And tonight he was at Lucas oil Stadium in Indianapolis, watching the Michigan Wolverines play the UConn Huskies for the national championship. 💙💛

And tonight… he finally got to see it.

Somewhere between the nerves, the missed shots, the superstition, and the stress of every possession…

this team found a way.

And in a stadium filled with noise, and in living rooms filled with hope…

a new memory was made.

One he’ll never forget.

One I’ll never forget.

Because tonight, we didn’t just watch a game—

we watched Michigan bring home a national championship.

And as always…

It’s great to be a Michigan Wolverine. 💙💛

The Yellow and Blue

(C. M. Gayley, M. W. Balfe)/Regents of the University of Michigan)

Sing to the colors that float in the light;
Hurrah for the Yellow and Blue!
Yellow the stars as they ride through the night
And reel in a rollicking crew;
Yellow the field where ripens the grain
And yellow the moon on the harvest wain;
-Hail!
Hail to the colors that float in the light
Hurrah for the Yellow and Blue!

Blue are the billows that bow to the sun
When yellow-robed morning is due.
Blue are the curtains that evening has spun
The slumbers of Phoebus to woo;
Blue are the blossoms to memory dear
And blue is the sapphire and gleams like a tear;
-Hail!
Hail to the ribbons that nature has spun;
Hurrah for the Yellow and Blue!

Here’s to the college whose colors we wear,
Here’s to the hearts that are true!
Here’s to the maid of the golden hair,
And eyes that are brimming with blue!
Garlands of bluebells and maize intertwine,
And hearts that are true and voices combine;
-Hail!
Hail to the college whose colors we wear;
Hurrah for the Yellow and Blue!
