Sometimes the best days of travel are the ones where you don’t go anywhere at all.
Today was one of those days.
We spent the morning on deck as our ship cruised through the Kanmon Straits, the narrow waterway separating the islands of Honshu and Kyushu. With brilliant blue skies, calm water, and stunning views in every direction, it felt like we were sailing through a postcard.
After soaking in the scenery, we attended a lecture about our upcoming excursions, which only added to the excitement for the adventures still ahead.
Next came one of the highlights of the day: learning how to wear a yukata, a casual Japanese kimono. It was such a fun cultural experience, and seeing our group dressed in colorful yukatas made for some wonderful photos and a lot of laughter.
And because this is a cruise, the afternoon concluded with high tea—an elegant and delicious way to end an already memorable day.
Beautiful scenery, new experiences, cultural traditions, good friends, and tea.
I’d say that’s a pretty perfect sea day.
