One Day, 18,000 Steps, and a Whole Lot of Tokyo

From Shibuya Crossing to Shinjuku Lights

Our first day in Tokyo was absolutely amazing—and my feet are proof. I logged more than 18,000 steps, and my dogs are barking! 😜🐾

We started by experiencing the energy of Shibuya Crossing, where it feels like the entire city moves in every direction at once.

We visited the famous Hachikō statue, honoring Japan’s most loyal dog (which, of course, made this dog mom smile), and then did a little shopping at Don Quijote—because no trip to Japan is complete without getting wonderfully lost in that multi-story maze of souvenirs and surprises.

Next, we successfully navigated the Tokyo subway and rode from Shibuya to Shinjuku, which felt like a small victory in itself.

We capped off the evening with an incredible food tour through the neon-lit streets of Shinjuku. We sampled delicious local specialties (13 dishes at 4 restaurants) we toasted with giant mugs of beer and lemon sours, and laughed our way through one memorable stop after another.

What a wonderful first day in Tokyo. And the best part? We still have two more days to explore this incredible city.

What a privilege it is to travel, to collect moments instead of things, and to share adventures like this with such wonderful friends. 💙🇯🇵🍻🐕🚆✨
