On our last day in Japan, while frantically running around a shopping mall buying last-minute gifts and enough KitKats to supply a small country, we were stopped by a Japanese TV crew who wanted to interview us about our trip.
They asked what surprised us about Japan, what souvenirs we bought, whether we visited supermarkets (yes 😂), and what we thought of everything.
The TV crew completely lost it when we admitted that the five of us had spent over $1,000 on KitKat bars to bring home as souvenirs.
Apparently nothing says “American tourists in Japan” quite like spending four figures on KitKats. 😳🍫🇯🇵
Somewhere in Tokyo, a news producer is currently explaining to viewers why five American women emptied the KitKat shelves at Don Quijote. 😂
Apparently our opinions on Japanese convenience stores and snack aisles are now important enough for national television.
The segment airs after June 11 on a nightly news show and will also be on YouTube.
We came to Japan as tourists and left as international TV stars. 😜🇯🇵📺
