I’ve Got So Much to Be Thankful For

A few months ago, I was driving home from the gym when a song came on the radio that stopped me in my tracks.

It was “Thankful” by Forrest Frank, and the chorus is simple:

“I’ve got so much to be thankful for.”

The sun was shining. It was 50 degrees in Michigan in early March, which practically feels like summer around here. People were out walking, the sky was bright blue, and for a moment everything just felt…good.

And I realized something.

That lyric might actually be my life anthem.

Not because everything is perfect. Life is messy. Complicated. Sometimes heartbreaking.

But I know how blessed I am. And I also know how quickly life can change.

That’s why I try to appreciate every single beautiful, messy, complicated minute.

The big adventures — standing in Antarctica, traveling across oceans, front-row seats and backstage passes at concerts, cheering on Michigan in big games.

But also the ordinary moments — a sunny Michigan morning, a good workout, a favorite song on the radio, and knowing when I get home my sled-dog doodle will be waiting for her walk.

When I step back and look at it all, the truth is simple.

I’ve got so much to be thankful for.
