Go Blue… in Heels

There are certain places that already feel a little magical to you…

before anything even happens.

For me, Michigan Stadium — The Big House — has always been one of them.

I’ve sat in those stands.

I’ve cheered until I lost my voice.

I’ve worn the lucky sweatshirt (unwashed, of course) and lived through every high and heartbreak that comes with being a Michigan fan.

But this night?

This was something entirely different.

I was there for the American Heart Association Heart Ball…

inside the Big House.

Let that sink in for a second.

Not outside.

Not in the stands.

Not walking past it on a Saturday morning.

Inside.

And not just inside…

but experiencing parts of the stadium that most fans never get to see.

I was there with a friend…

who, for the record, is not a Michigan alum.

Not even a Michigan football fan.

And yet… he spent the entire night following me around the stadium

patiently taking my picture like I was on some kind of personal Michigan photo tour.

Which, to be fair… I kind of was.

At one point, I found myself standing on the 50-yard line.

Alone.

In a formal black dress.

In heels.

Right there on the field I’ve watched from the stands for years.

It felt surreal.

Quiet.

Almost like the stadium was holding its breath.

No roaring crowd.

No band.

No game.

Just me… standing at midfield, smiling like someone who knew this was one of those you’ll never forget this moments.

Later, we made our way up into the Jack Roth renovated areas of the stadium for the black tie fundraiser.

Seeing the field from those vantage points was incredible — a completely different perspective of a place I thought I already knew so well.

And then… one of my favorite moments of the night:

We got to sit behind the very table where Jim Harbaugh held his postgame press conferences.

I mean… how does that even happen?

For a Michigan fan, that’s not just a table.

That’s where games get explained, decisions get defended, and history gets talked through — one question at a time.

And there I was… sitting there like I belonged.

But maybe the moment that will stay with me the longest wasn’t a big one.

It was walking through the tunnel…

under the words:

GO BLUE

The same path players take.

The same sign they pass under before running out onto the field.

Except this time…

it wasn’t game day.

It was just a regular Friday night that somehow turned into something extraordinary.

I’ve had the chance to take my Michigan flag all over the world…

to stand in incredible places and say Go Blue from every corner of the globe.

But this?

This might be one of the most special Michigan moments of all.

Because for one night…

I wasn’t just a fan in the stands.

I was part of the field.
